Anomalous Investigations is a weird horror rules set using the Panic Engine (Mothership RPG) and inspired by media such a the SCP Foundation, Control, the X-Files, Delta Green, and the Laundry Files. Play as an investigation and containment unit within the mysterious Federal Bureau of Anomalies, who seek to contain dangerous and strange paranormal events, areas, and beings.
Anomalous Investigations requires the Mothership RPG Player's Survival Guide for the base rules (you can get a free Work in Progress copy of the rules from the Mothership Discord, with the full release soon). This game adds the following new rules:

- New rules for a "flat" skill list, where each skill can improve, plus gain specialization bonus
- Rules for paranormal abilities for the Altered class
- New equipment and items
- Rules for operating in the FBA as an investigative agent, including investigation rolls, downtime, earning political capital, and dealing with paperwork.

Hello! Just a few questions. Before that I have to say this is an incredible hack heh!!
1. Are we using the standard panic table that comes with the Mothership Players Survival Guide?
2. Could you help me understand specializations..? In the case of the Union, Specialist, and Ranger they all have the choice to choose a specialization in their load out, but from how it is described in the skills section Specializations have to reach a minimum of expert level. Would that mean we feed the other loadout skill options into the skill tree for specialization or would we just count those as the singular specialization load out.
3. In the same vein, is the "master" skill level supposed to be specialization?
Thanks!!
Thank you! Yes, this uses the Mothership panic table.
Regarding Specializations, you pick one based on an expert skill you have. So if you have Investigation as an Expert level skill, you can pick something like Forensics as a Specialization.
Master level skills are separate, just more of a skill bonus to the base skill.
Hope that answers your questions! I’ve also got an update/revamp of this system coming out when the Panic Engine SRD releases later this year.
hey, im just wondering how the health works in this? i havent played mothership but from the looks of it they usually have boxes that you but the health in. but i dont see anywhere i can put that in? any help would be grand! :D
Health should be the same as mothership, though in Anomalous Investigations I based the health tracker off an early pre-release version of 1e. So the three lines that say Wounds, each have health bars after them. You mark those off as your HP goes down then mark a Wound and start on the next row.
I’m going to do an updated game for this soon, that has normal HP boxes like mothership.
Seems really cool for doing some fast delta green.
Thanks! I’ve got a more generic system for this in the works as well…
